The Stagecoach Stop of 'Gypsum'

The hamlet of Gypsum was first known as "Dutch Settlement." Later it was changed to Plainville and still later Gypsum, on account of the plaster beds and a plaster mill that once existed here. There was also a Baptist Church here at one time.
